【妖怪説明】
山梨県富士川町、旧増穂町増穂橋に伝わる。

増穂橋は昔は杉の一本橋で一面に笹藪が茂っていた。
大椚の井上半左衛門と市川与兵衛が夜にこの端を通りかかると、笹藪の中から一つ目小僧が現れた。半左衛門は剣術の心得があったため刀を抜いて斬りかかろうとした。
しかし与兵衛はそれを止めて「斬るほどのものはない。一つ目小僧は上から見下ろせば消える」といったため、橋の上からグッとにらみつけると怪物はそのまま消えてしまった。

「斬ると井上半左衛門に　市川与兵衛は見下ろすと」

【One-eyed boy on Masuho Bridge】
It is handed down at Masuho Bridge in the former Masuho Town, Fujikawa Town, Yamanashi Prefecture.Masuho Bridge used to be a single cedar bridge and was covered with bamboo groves.
Hanzaemon Inoue and Yohei Ichikawa passed this edge at night. A boy with one eye emerged from the bamboo grove. Hanzaemon drew his sword and tried to cut him.But Yohei stopped it. "You don't have to kill him. If you look down from above, the hitotsume-kozou will disappear." They glared at the monster from the bridge. Then the monster disappeared.
