【妖怪説明】
宮城県本吉郡南三陸町入谷八幡神社に伝わる。

昔、入谷には入谷踊りとか行山踊りと呼ばれる獅子踊りがあった。この獅子踊りは豊作を祈るための祭りで行われていたが、ある年から不作が続き祭りどころではなくなったので二、三年の間祭りは行われなかった。
するとそれ以来、真夜中になると獅子踊りで使っていた獅子頭が神社の座敷に出てきて、ガッタガッタと音を立てて歩きまわるようになった。人々はこれはきっと祭りをやってほしいという催促ではないか、と相談して盛大に祭りを行ったところ、次の年は大豊作になったという。

「不作なれども祭はいたせ さすれば豊年呼びたもう」

【Mayonaka ni arukimawaru Shishigasira ~Lion head walking in the middle of the night~】
It is transmitted to Iriya Hachiman Shrine, Minamisanriku Town, Motoyoshi District, Miyagi Prefecture.
Once upon a time, there was a lion dance festival in Iriya to pray for a good harvest. However, I didn't hold a festival for a couple of years because of poor harvests from a certain year.
Then, at midnight, the lion head of the lion dance came out to the tatami room of the shrine and began to make noise and walk around. People thought they should have a festival. After a grand festival, it was said that the next year was a good harvest.
